So after a hiatus of a few weeks, I'm hoping that things can return to normal tonight!

I'm slightly annoyed that we still haven't been able to get anything other than ET working - the bizarre server problems that are plaguing us for Q3 and SC remain unresolved. Hopefully, we can have another try to get a Q3 server running (I'm going to try disposing of my router temporarily and see if that makes any difference) as I'd love to run around DM6tmp, DM13, Tourney4 and Tourney2 once more!

On an unrelated note, another batch of Euro WAR invites went out a few days ago. I'm still not in and I assume, from the clear absence of victory posts, that we're all in the same situation :(

I'm getting quite frustrated at our lack of success and I think you're right that it's a router issue. After rebooting, I tried connecting to my own server via TCP/IP and eventually discovered:

1 - The dedicated console tells you what IP and what port it is running on. Despite me saying start on port 27960, the server was incrementing the port number automatically.

2 - Trying to connect to my IP address and the right port (as specified in the console) gave me an internet client/server connection every time. However, I suffered from terrible lag.

3 - I am now confident that I can set up a server that is accessible via the net, but I am not sure why the lag is so terrible - it may be a server network setting within Q3 that needs tweaked.

I'm quickly losing hope/interest in ever getting servers running over tcp/ip! Maybe we should just try setting up Kali to fool our PCs into thinking they are all on the same LAN... Because WAR will have arrived long before we ever get fragging!

Sorry for dropping out rather quickly.. I had a net split, reconnected and found you idle and since it was getting late anyways, I just called it a night and logged.

At the moment, I`m pretty sure that it IS a router thing. I tried to google something and stumbled across some strange stuff like UPnP and what not.. things that I never heard of before. Maybe Astrala is able to help us.. he´s a Micorosft Guru. :)

As for Server.. I still have access to our nOiD Clanserver, so I can set up a Quake server pretty quickly... IF I have a working server cfg. Tried to copy the server cfg from a friend of mine, but he didn´t make a backup so it´s lost.

Well... lets see.. I`ll try to make it happen until next week but can´t promise anything.
