Get the party started by:

Downloading your prefered IRC client (might I recommend mIRC)
Install the client
Configure the client to connect to a Quakenet server (there is a "Server" section in the setup options - make sure you change it from the default to Quakenet)
Connect to the server and, once connected, type "/join #mattandbaz" (without quote marks)That should put us all in the same chatroom and from there we can figure out what we're going to do. Current suggestions include a newbie trawl through WoW (although I know Ralph will hate this idea) or a nostalgia session in Q3 (although Matt T doesn't have this game). An alternative might be to try getting a multi-player game of an RTS going, but finding one we all have may be tricky.

I kind of view tonight as a test-run to see if we can co-ordinate. Even if all we achieve is getting together and mapping out a plan of play for next week, that will be quite enough to keep me happy!

Any chance that Peter will join us? Anyone still in touch with any of the old skool DAoC bunch? (Numenor, where are you?! :))

See y'all later tonight!

Thor I can send you a buddy key ;)

What about guildwars... I here it doesn't have too much of an entry point for playing ? Or maybe something like BF 2142 or something ?

I've never played either but am open for options.

Matt

I think both are quite strong options. I know that GW may a nice fit between an MMORPG and an FPS game. Could certainly be interesting.

And BF is a pretty good option if we are able to (reliably) get 4 or 5 people together each week.

Keep the ideas coming - the more suggestions we have, the more likely we are to hit upon one that we all like the sound of!

Leaving work now - see you tonight!

Hmm, how about LOTRO ?!? Playing that now on Snowbourne mostly with the remains of TDL.
And, just like Ralph, I don't like WoW, although for different reasons, I guess. ;)

Cannot get mirc to work. :((
It logs into a server and in the middle of the process it disconnects.

Maybe a port issue?

Try allowing traffic on ports 113 and 6660-6669...
