A quote from Grezko
=======================================
In bomming wb's engi can have 2 roles. magneteer or the more unpopular AoE-er.
A ) - magneteer.
Several possible builds:
http://www.wardb.com...2:1575:1576:651 - most popular magnet spec
http://www.wardb.com...2:1575:1576:651 - defensive magneteer with some extra CC
there are few tactics that the magneteer can employ:
- magneting their front line onto your own landmine to stagger so the rest can bomb the remaining destro.
- magneting their back line(healers) onto your own landmine to stagger so their front line receives less heals.
- magneting front line into your front line while standing on your own napalm and AoE kd from turret immediately after pull + landmine on the back line
2 extremely important things to remember while magneting - the immunity timers one for kb/root/pull other for stagger/kd
B ) the ever unpopular amongst others AoE spec:
http://www.wardb.com...52:649:1576:651 - problem is that you don't have any flexibility in your role. Very few engies play this build.
http://www.wardb.com...52:649:1576:651 - AoE mixed with ST - My personal favorite. Offers flexibility in the engi role on the battle field. Engie starts with AoE (napalm, 1-2-3 acid bombs, 1-2 frag grenades, sticky bomb) and then can either finish his AP with spam of blunderbuss or can single out some healers. Good side here is that within a bombing wb healers are rarely guarded and usually the big heals go for the front line.
Engie dmg is sneaky - most often the healer rarely notices he is being attacked until he has 3-4 dots on him, and when the full 6 dots are applied and M2 triggered(the initial AoE dots will get the extra dmg as well so you are straining both the healer and the front line) in 70% of the cases that healer is down.
Few ppl realize that when M2 is applied engi can outdps a BW for 7 secondss if destro are fighting within napalm. We are talking about 2-3-4k non-phisical dmg/sec with crits on multiple targets(up to their entire front line) - with M2 coordination the bombers should have little trouble nuking destro bombers in the frontline before the chosens reach their M3.
Whatever the build land mine and AoE kd from turret are always at engi disposal and should be use extensively. Engi on his own has crappy dmg but the dots can strain the healers and leave the engi targets vulnerable to the spike dmg of others in your wb.
