Yo,
so, i've gotten so far on my own merits and now realise that it's better to ask for help... my character needs some help that is in speccing...
KotBS - Currently RR49 using all Conqueror armour full of 19's wound tali's, with the RvR INF weapons (one hand and shield). I'm working on the dwarf INF for the purple 2 hander (ooer).
my renown points are basically spread between wounds, toughness and strength, in that priority, i can't remember what gems/jewelry i've got, but they're most likely the ones you can buy from the RR vendor in sig vaults...
I have a full set of Invader gear in my backpack ready to equip once i get the renown, but i figure before I go and spend all my cash on talismans, maybe this time I should figure out what is the 'right' combination for my character/play style...
thx in advance!
Nelson.

don't spend renown on wounds please :P
go toughness which matters in pvp ... but before I go any further, what is your play style!

Dont spend money on talismans.
We have guild members who can make you talismans.
Kiltz, Limryil, Lynn and a few others.
About specc, i do have a kotbs too, but it tankspecc.
On talismans i use initiative to reduce incoming crits (and aswell initiative from reknown trainer, and rank 2 block rate) I have 2xblock talismans from Lost Vale quest reward on weapons. i use 2x block rings from quest rewards, 1 quest reward from Bastion Stairs and 1 quest reward from Gunbad, they are 2% block on each. My gear is fully invader. You can try and run city dungeons to farm %block rings and start on Lost Vale to farm shield and gear from there, after that try Tomb of the Vulture Lord.
You should also ask Ovation, Calsipher and Cursher for their specc aswell.
They are better tanks than myself.

I'm also a top level tally maker, all I need are the mats. Speak to Kiltz on vent, i'm sure he can show you the direction to go with your spec.

cheers, keep em coming...
My play style - I guess i'm more of a hang back and defend the squishies / absorb damage cos I get confused in the mass melee fighting... but I'd rather be an at the front hitting stuff tank i guess...
with my invader gear i was thinking of getting 2 sets, one full of (toughness/wounds whatever) and one full of strength - that way I can alternate between sword and shield defender mode, and 2 hand weapon attack mode depending on the situation...
ok on the talis - where do I find out what materials i need to make the various talismans? - i'm a savenger, so end up with various bits and bobs, but usually auction them or sell them at a merchant, in the past this is my income for buying talis...
if someone has the time (and inclination) a screenshot of the 'best' way to renown up with the war DB renown builder click (http://www.wardb.com/renown.aspx?id=10)would be an amazing help too...?? Oh, i'm 'Glory' career built at the moment too, but not sure if that's good/bad either...
cheers

Ahah! The hang back type. You are precisely my antithesis by nature. Kiltz had to fix my build because I go by str and weaponskill to rush and down squishy quickly, so I would not do too great on pve dungeon such as Vulture Lord.
For defensive spec, knight's line is Vigilance. Path of Glory build is meant for versatility between hanging back and on the offensive end.
For renown build that concerns about defense I would look into the following distribution:
Fortitude/Toughness (4 at least)
Impetus/Initiative (2 or 3)
Skirmisher/Weaponskill+Initiative (2 or 3 )
Defender/Block% or if you think you'll use 2hand more Reflexes/Parry%
There is no best build, I rather say, it would always depend on the person, the play style and the situation. So you would have to do some experiment yourself. When I was weaponskill/str build, I loved it in scenarios because even when using sword and shield I could really do some good damage still.

cheers to all who helped me respec last night into a ninja-tank DPS master! lol.
loving the new abilities, and we went into the tovl and got up to the 3rd boss, going back in tonight...
respecced renown with mostly ST and WS, swapped my talis from wounds to ST (thanks pakitin) and did the conquest path. felt much better, like I could take damage but also deal some for a change...
even dropped my first Ankh tablet thing from one of the bosses - nice.
-
then, after our tomb run, finally solo'd a Witch Elf in RvR, something that's been on my 'to do' list for a while (and got 250RR, so she was a good one too!) since i've always been owned in the past.
Now I just need a cool 2 handed sword to round off this new lease of bashing.
cheers.

Don't spend any renwon points on wounds. From a stat efficiency point of view, the cost of wounds from renown points is very high. Much better to spend your renown points on the first and third tiers and get wounds from equipment, talismans and liniments.

I too am Talis maker extraordinare - and I have blue fragments of just about everything and purple fragments of some things at lvl 175 and 200.
For other talis makers: I put some blue lvl175 and 200 frags in the vault - free to use. (strength, armor, melee and toughness)

I'm also a talisman maker/salvager. But I never get a whole lot of purple fragments from salvaging. I am willing to help out since I get a lot of crests, from time to time, I salvage a lot of items. I just don't see you often enough in-game to ask exactly what talismans you need. I dump blue fragments in guild vault too and I try to put some talismans there as well sometimes. Just say which ones you still need so I can try salvaging for those next if ever.

Hi,
I've just discovered and downloaded the addon Twister so I can keep up at least 2 aura's during the chaos of open rvr.
Currently I'm keeping On Your Guard and Stand Strong! on rotation.
Is this correct or is Gather Your Resolve more effective?
I'm only rank 17 atm but I assume All out Assault will be slotted in at rank 25?
If role affects matters, I prefer to hold back in the defensive line with sword/shield.
Finding Twister made this so much easier, are there any other KotBS specific addons I should have a look at?
Thanks for any advice,
Wibbler

I found twister hard to use, please chat to me some time and tell me what i did wrong.
ps. Gather your resolve, Stand Strong and All out assult are the 3 that many articles recommend at lvl 40, particulary with that +5% crit hit chance tatic for your group that comes with All out assult.
but also check out this chaps blog, he has some great tips for knights

Even using DaoCBuff to simplify my buff/debuffs I found I couldn't keep track of the timing on my aura's and hotbar button cycles in a hectic fight, so I always ended up just leaving 1 aura on for the entire fight.
With Twister turning that into a single hotkey to activate the next aura in the cycle and a small progression bar to remind me I can keep up 2 aura's reliably for the whole fight.

Found this write up on the WHA Chosen forums. Applies to KotBS as well
http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=306721
Details full instructions on the setup and use of twister. Also outlines how to setup different setups via macros that will change all your selected auras based on PVE, RVR and SCs
Best use of twister is to bind it to the hotkey that's the ability you spam the most.
