After a great weekend in Cambridge (/wave Matt, et al) I've arrived at the conclusion that what us crusty old buggers (especially those with kids, but not exclusively limited to them!) really need is a safe, warm environment in which to laugh at how decrepit our reactions have become!

Therefore, I am pleased to announce that I am currently planning BazLAN! The provisional details are:

Weekend of Friday 16th February to Sunday 18th February (inclusive - so if you want to arrive late on Thursday evening, that's cool)
In the heart of the beautiful city of Edinburgh
Crash space available (Jen and baby will be out of town for the entire weekend)
Aiming for a minimum of 8 people (I know that I have 4 or 5 already) and a reasonable maximum of about 12
Probably no spare PC's are available, so you'll unfortunately need to bring one
Other activities can be arranged, depending on the interests of the attendees (eg we think the rugby will be on this weekend; there's bound to be a football game at home for Heart or Hibs; the Whiskey Society is very nearby in Leith; there's lots of historic pubs/tours/walks to do; etc, etc). Or we can keep it focussed on the video games!I have still to confirm that this date is acceptable, but I'm 99% certain that it'll be this weekend.

Let me know if you're interested. I'm thinking especially of Matt T, here - I'm sure you could carpool with Matt K coming up from Cambridge! ;) And if our .de buddies could make it, well, that'd be just perfect! :D

Sounds like a great thing!
I`ll try my best to convince Peter so we can make it. Pretty long trip though, weŽll see. :)

Would be wonderful if you guys could make it. But I appreciate that it's a seriously long trip - for your reference it would be about 6 hours longer than the trip you made to Cambridge (if you were to drive again).

Maybe an alternative is to fly and ship your PC's by courier? Might work out much more expensive to do that, of course :(

hm.. not looking too good atm. :(
Peter is prolly busy taking care of his moms cats and I might have to work. Maybe I`m going to make a spontaneous trip by plane (can someone pick me up from the airport in that case maybe?) but - youŽre right - donŽt hold your breath.

Be sure to put up a webcam though and switch on your IMs, so I can spam you with silly questions. :D

I did think it would be difficult for you guys with such short notice (where is Peter, btw? Haven't seen him post here for a while! ;)).

If you were to spontaneously arrive we'd be able to collect you, yes. Edinburgh airport is only around 30 minutes from my house. And worst case scenario will be the live webcam feed!

The horror. The horror.

:D

Huhu :)

I'm here again. Didn't look into the forum for such a long time that I had to ask Ralph for the login details again. :(
And I won't be able to make it this time. As Ralph posted I have to take care of the cats because my mom is on a holiday trip and the second point is that my identity card is no longer valid and I have to get a new one, which will last for 3-4 weeks+. And since I will stay in Aachen for that time I won't even have the opportunity to go online.
I will try to remember to check the boards a bit more frequently in future.
I have signed up for Middle-Earth Online Beta - don't expect they pick me, but anyway. And maybe we will manage to start a game at the same time when WAR arrives. :)

Have fun on your LAN, guys. :)

Took me 3 months to get back to gaming from babyland :)
