View Full Version : Homewrecking Tour - Summary and Thoughts

Last night, a merry band of <Blade and Quill> ventured out to clear our lands of some powerful creatures. These monsters had thought that by hiding their homes in far-flung, forgotten places that they would be safe from conflict. We set out to show them otherwise!

The raid was ably led by Mavv (with help from a few other officers) and his summary of the event is as follows:

Lair of Morra (Nordland): Morra is a big wolf whose lair is in the middle of nowhere on the south coast of Nordland, next to a waterfall. Quite how anyone first discovered the lair is a mystery - a WAR character being in that location is a bit like a Londoner going to the Western Isles of Scotland looking for work - conceivable but unlikely. We smashed Morra with ease.

Lair of Silveroak (Norsca): This Silveroak chap is a big tree thing, which the Warhammer world calls a dryad (though I thought Dryads were female-shaped and not just walking trees, but anyway...). The lair is in an out of the way part of Norsca, and we had several deaths getting there(!) Once there, we had to figure out how to get to the lair - luckily, our resident (ethnic Russian) Latvian Draligan had been in the area previously and had the knowledge to help. He didn't help, and enjoyed watching us piss around trying to get up a hill, but he was theoretically able to help if he'd wanted to (only messing Dral - you were great). In all fairness, he threw us a few hints... Silveroak, upon being engaged in combat, destroyed utterly the <Blade and Quill> warband, and on behalf of the Guild, I demand a rematch in the future and am adding this half-witted tree thing to a Rematch List. But next time we will bring twice or thrice the people and we will make him into kindling.

Lair of Gutslime (Mt Bloodhorn): Gutslime is a goblin shaman. Leipzig inappropriately offered to drink with him, for which he was duly told off (:D) then we set to him and killed him with ease (not Leip, the goblin!). This was one of the easier events of the evening.

Lair of Kelbrax (Chrace): This guy is a huge Beastman. The lair was found deep in the Destro PvE zone of Chrace, which we'd never been to before. So there was a certain amount of buggering about to get to the lair, as everyone tried different ways to do it. But once there our Guild's warband easily saw off this menacing figure.

Lair of Gorthlak (Blighted Isle): This lair was actually not too far from the PvE areas that PvE levellers will be familiar with. Gorthlak is a huge Orc. After some minor difficulties getting to him, we killed him without much trouble.

Lair of Metoh (Troll Country): The lair of this giant Yeti is right at the north edge of the TC map. PvE levellers might recall the icy divide across the map, and the way that they were once scared of the L21 trolls prowling along this divide. No such fears confronted the <Blade and Quill> warband, however, as we fearlessly trekked north in search of the lair. Luckily Ethelka had already been to this location and was able to give us good directions. But, alas, Metoh was too much for us (our numbers now reduced by those logging to go to bed). And so I would like to also add Metoh to the Guild's Rematch List.

Lair of Old Oozeback (Marshes of Madness): By this time, our numbers reduced and the strength of our remaining WB members flagging, we resolved to try one last lair, to test our luck and skill. This lair, belonging to a huge troll, was thankfully close to the zone's Order Warcamp, and so we found it relatively quickly. But again, we were bested. Old Oozeback is hereby also added to the Rematch List.

Following this, we disbanded and will continue the fight another day...

So... a good evening - thanks for all who took part. A few thoughts:

- Although lairs are in out of the way places, you can tell you're near one by the Nintendo moves you have to make to get to them - they all seem to be approached by steps you have to jump or hollow logs you have to climb up, or something similar, something a la Mario Bros.

- The event lost people due to tiredness too quickly, and also people in far Eastern Europe were unable to participate because it was too late for them (3h+ from UK time, so 9pm UK is 12am in European Russia, for example) - future events could do with starting at 6/7pm UK time for maximum participation and fun.

- This whole idea was a great success and people want to continue - we should do the rest of the T2 lairs another day, then think about doing T3 and T4 ones.

- The Ostland lair with the complex unlock has people intrigued - we should do this one evening in the future, though it will likely take up the entire evening by itself. But that's OK, as long as it's planned in!

Special thanks to Snowy for helping me out with advice - I had never created and led a Warband before, let alone a guild one! Cheers Snowy - much obliged. And, obviously, thanks to everyone for coming along - we will continue this saga another day, and we'll return to take revenge on those bosses who dared to best us!

Although I (Baz) failed to show up for this event (due to unexpected real-life drama), I will be arranging (and hopefully leading!) future Homewrecking events. It looks like we have a few revenge grudge-matches from T1/T2 and we still have a great many more lairs to discover and empty in T3/T4.

Hope this event provided fun for the whole guild - regardless of class or level!
